日本は時間ぴったりに交通がくるから待合所で待たすなんてナンセンス。だったら無理に待つ場にしない。そうだ、通り抜ける場にしてみよう。 この島には小さな魅力がたくさんある。そのあれこれに触れられるような幅の通り道、そんな待合空間を作りました。設計した待合空間の幅は手を伸ばせば、ものに届くような幅になっています。島中に溢れる置くへと続くランドスケープ。島の人の見慣れた空間が建築の中にそっと潜んでいるんです。
In Japan, transportation arrives right on time, so making people wait in a waiting area feels almost nonsensical.So instead of forcing it to be a place to wait, I reimagined it as a place to pass through.This island is filled with small, quiet charms.I designed the waiting space as a narrow path where you can brush against those moments as you move along.Its width is such that, if you reach out your hand, you can touch what’s around you.A landscape that feels like it continues deep into the island unfolds throughout.Familiar scenes from everyday island life are gently embedded within the architecture.

島の人も島の外の人も待合所に入ると、島の情報に手を伸ばしたくなる「勝手口空間」。離島ならではの課題や魅力、チラシや掲示板などの動かない情報も人の活動と一緒に点在させることで幅広い情報が手に届くようになります。
To create a “backdoor-like space” where both locals and visitors instinctively reach out to island information upon entering, I propose five design strategies.By scattering both the challenges and charms unique to remote islands—along with static information such as flyers and bulletin boards—within the flow of people’s activities, a wide range of information becomes naturally accessible.
