After establishing the concept, I moved on to exploring the form and materials of the tea house. During this process, I came across polypropylene (PP) bands.

In Japan, we have a culture of carefully wrapping gifts with sincerity, and the recipient would unwrap them with a sense of excitement. However, over time, packaging materials have become trivialized and are often treated as disposable. PP bands, commonly used for securing everything from cardboard boxes to building materials, are one such material that is discarded in large quantities.

This led me to propose a tea house that expresses a gentle, spring-like atmosphere—koharubiyori—using semi-transparent PP bands. Although it was unfortunately never realized, PP bands, especially those containing glass fiber and offering enhanced strength, revealed their potential as a lightweight, translucent architectural material.
